About Federation
Building a vibrant and purposeful Jewish community in Northern Virginia is an integral component of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington (Federation).
Federation brings people and financial resources together to care for those in need, deepen Jewish engagement, and create connections among Jews locally, in Israel, and around the world.
Together with our donors, volunteers, partner agencies, congregations, and staff, Federation work to identify needs, propose solutions, set priorities, strategically leverage resources, and seize opportunities which promote community building.
Founded in 1925, the organization is the central voice of the Jewish community in and around our Nation’s capital. The Greater Washington region is the sixth largest Jewish community in the Unites States. Northern Virginia comprises one-third of the region’s overall Jewish population of more than a quarter million people.
We help parents of children with disabilities, offer crisis intervention and relief for victims of natural disasters and global emergencies, strengthen Jewish literacy and involvement, and care for the vulnerable with basic food and housing needs. Learn More
