Where We’re Going

YOU BELONG to a community with a myriad of options for involvement.  Northern Virginia is comprised of 24 congregations, 10 Jewish preschools, a Jewish community center, a Jewish day school, a variety of  Jewish social services, and a host of political , social and educational  organizations.

Northern Virginia is a large geographic area and Jews live throughout its eight local jurisdictions.  This website is part of a community-wide effort to connect our diverse Jewish population.

Community building is at the heart of our purpose. Our ability to reach out and “bring to the table” individuals and groups to discuss issues, share expertise and plan for our future is central to our success. This network of cooperation across the Northern Virginia region allows us to shape our collective future.

Northern Virginia leaders are currently focusing on three major objectives; community building and outreach in Northern Virginia (of which this website is an outgrowth), leadership development, and collaboratively working on the development of a formal strategic plan.

Our key goals are to create a more interconnected and visible Jewish presence in Northern Virginia, to increase the number of new leaders involved in our community agencies and congregations, to support outreach and engagement initiatives for non-affiliated or marginally affiliated Jews, and to improve communication between agencies, congregations, and the community at large.
