Our Kick-off Event:
Highlights:
APRIL: Our speed dating event was a success! We raised over $475 for The Jewish Foundation of Group Homes and Homestretch Inc.(and hopefully made a few matches.)Much mazel goes to the top 2 teams of our Big Schlep Scavenger Hunt: Team Awesome and Team Avengers. Thanks to everyone who came out and purchased items for the Mother's Day baskets we will be delivering to Embry Rucker Shelter.
March:On Sunday, March 25 we participated in Good Deeds Day. We made origami crafts to brighten the lives of the kids at the NIH Children's Inn in Bethesda. We also heard from the NOVA Shlicha, Yael Ingel, who talked about The Lone Soldier Project and the Young Professional Service Trip to work with Holocaust Survivors in Miami (June 14-18). If you if you would like to get involved with these projects contact us at novatribeseries@gmail.com
February:Trivia night had our biggest turn out yet, thank you to everyone that came out to support NOVA Tribe. We collected 2 boxes of books to donate to the community and plan to continue collecting books at future events!
January:We discovered that Murder Mystery + Shabbat is a great combination. Participants enjoyed a Shabbat meal and an 80's version of "who did it" (it was Polly Pingmold in the kitchen with the Rubik's cube) and then all 3 houses met up for an after-party in Arlington.
December: Libations & Laughs: Happy Hour and Comedy Show Launch Event: Our crowd gathered at Rock Bottom to mingle and learn more about NOVA Tribe’s programs. Later in the evening, we headed to the Comedy Spot for an interactive improv show. At one point in the show the audience was asked to yell out advice or lines from movies; the comedians looked confused but we all were laughing when someone shouted “we only roll on Shabbos.” Check out our video of the NOVA Tribe representing on stage during the “Three Heads” game
